About: Michelle Frost
In 2019, I was gifted my sister’s decades-long collection of vintage jewelry — pieces she had lovingly gathered over a lifetime. By 2025, I began searching for a way to honor her passion while creating something of my own. That journey led to the birth of Sugar Babe Designs.
“Sugar Babe” was the name of my dad’s tiny yet beloved boat, which carried our family on countless adventures through the San Juan Islands and ultimately inspired my move to Whidbey Island. The olive-branch illustration in my logo is a tribute to my sweet mama, Olive, whose grace and warmth continue to guide me.
Every piece I create carries personal inspiration — a blend of family history, coastal nostalgia, and love. I work in small batches, thoughtfully selecting quality materials and vintage components that speak to me — sometimes bold, sometimes subtle, always intentional. No two pieces are ever exactly alike, and that’s the point. I believe jewelry should feel personal, storied, and a little bit unexpected.
Through this process, I’ve come to fully understand the thrill of “the find” — the excitement my sister felt in discovering something special and giving it new meaning. That feeling lives on in every design.
A percentage of all proceeds is donated to Alzheimer’s disease research, in honor of those we love and the memories we hold close.
